What makes Table Tennis so appealing?

Almost everyone has already had the opportunity to enjoy table tennis, be it at a party, at home, at a public swimming pool or in a sports club. Our sport means fun, fitness, mobility, precision and speed - for both, beginners as well as professionals.

For beginners, table tennis is arguably one of the easiest sports to get started. It doesn’t require any special equipment. All you need are some suitable sports shoes, a racket and a few table tennis balls – and, off you go!

Whether you want to practice or play competitively, you will have fun while enjoying a healthy dose of exercise (Training). In addition to a good exercise, table tennis offers various training opportunities for every age group. For young players, the main focus is usually on coordination and precision. Older players enjoy the opportunity to improve their fitness and mobility.

Insights about our Table Tennis Section

Our section comprises of about 60 members, of which ca. 40 are playing in teams. This makes us one of the largest sections of the Novartis Sports Club. Just like Novartis itself, we have an international orientation. Members originate from Switzerland and neighbouring countries Germany or France as well as from many other countries.

The members of the table tennis section also cultivate their camaraderie with some non-table tennis-related events that are spread throughout the year. On these occasions, our members may wish to invite their relatives and friends.

Welcome to everyone – come and have a look

The table tennis section welcomes everyone. Interested players can come to a trial training without obligation, where we are also happy to give advice on the type of equipment required. If you are new to our sport, we recommend that you come with a teammate so that for practise purposes you can together also make use of the free training opportunities at the club.

We are also happy to welcome those players who would like to join us for the regional sports championship, in which we participate with teams of 3 players each. We usually register 5-7 teams per year, participating in different leagues depending on their strength. We are proud to point out that our first team has won both the Swiss Championship and the Cup several times in recent years (MM Final). In addition to the championship and cup, licensed players can also regularly participate in regional tournaments.
